Individual Counseling
The counselor works with students in a safe, positive, and confidential setting to address issues that "get in the way" of school achievement. Topics are based on the needs of the student and may include understanding feelings, changing families and divorce, grief, stress, social skills, academics, bullying, problem solving, and decision making.
Group Counseling
The counselor works with students sharing similar issues or concerns work together in a small group environemnt consisting of 3 to 6 peers, usually 30 minutes lasting about 6 to 8 weeks. Topics are based on the needs of the students and may include divorce or family changes, grief and loss, friendship, conflict resolution, and social skills.
Classroom Guidance
The counselor incorporates the Second Step Curriculum in classrooms, as well as, need based lessons to address the personal, social, academic, and career-related needs at the appropriate developmental level. Topics may include self-esteem, conflict resolution, career awareness, social skills, bullying, and goal setting.
